The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Andhra Pradesh Coordinator and retired Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. Purnachandra Rao today announced their Party would hold a BC Assembly in Vijayawada on August 20th. The event coincides with Sri Narayana Guru Jayanti and will highlight the demand for a comprehensive caste census as the primary issue.
Dr. Rao emphasized the importance of unity among BC communities to advocate for their rights and rightful political representation. He criticized the historical neglect and exploitation of BCs as mere vote banks and stressed the need for collective action to pressure the government.
The event will feature a round table discussion focused on the rights, reservations, and political representation of BCs. Dr. Rao has invited BC leaders and activists from various parties and districts, as well as students and intellectuals, to participate in the daylong program at Hotel Sripada.
“The leaders will collectively demand an immediate state and national-level caste census, ensuring BCs receive their due share in reservations within legislatures and other local bodies. We will also call for promotions for BCs in government jobs and universities, prioritize them for nominated posts, and push for the implementation of the BC Protection Act promised by the state government,” said Dr. Rao.
In addition to BSP leaders, representatives from various BC unions across the state are expected to participate in this significant event.
